I stumbled upon this chart in the Silicon Alley Insider. I feel like it truly represents what so many great start-up”s believe will never happen to them. Both, in the sputtering start of the venture (it started “hot”, but they cant believe there have been “so many challenges” along the way), and then in the eventual pick up of the business (as they believed they were possibly doomed), leading to the acquisition of liquidity, and then ultimate success.
There is sometimes simply no other way to get through the maze of launching a successful business, than to grit through the most unsuccessful time of the start-up, knowing that there is ultimately light at the end of the tunnel.
A “Room at Hotel Reality” often sucks for start-up”s, but working a good plan, in an extraordinary way, can change that “Rooms View”, if you believe in it enough.
